EXPERIENCE THE THRILL OF CORPUS CHRISTI FISHING
When it comes to Corpus Christi fishing, I have done it all. Well, maybe not quite. But I have done plenty of fishing with my grandpa. I have also fished in the Gulf of Mexico a few times. Fishing offshore is quite an adventure.
The primary fishing spots I have fished at with my grandpa are South Bay and Brown and Root. When I was younger we fished in the Nueces Bay. Nueces Bay is on the other side of the causeway that connects Corpus Christi with Portland.
INDIAN POINT PIER
A perfect morning for fishing.
I have fished with my grandpa in the Laguna Madre, near Padre Island. There are several marinas located throughout these areas where you can launch your boat.
Nowadays my grandpa launches his boat near Aransas Pass. He spends most of his fishing time here. He fishes around Redfish Bay, South Bay, and behind Brown and Root. All of these fishing spots are located in between Aransas Pass and Port Aransas. However, some parts of these bays are quite shallow, so you would need a shallow water hull.
My grandpa's boat is small and is jet propelled. It has a flat bottom hull, so he can fish in very shallow water. Your boat does not have to be flat bottom. Many parts of these bays are less than one foot in depth. The tide will also be a factor. Just be extra careful if you have a larger boat with a deeper hull.
FISHING ALONG THE BEAUTIFUL COAST

Apart from the times I have spent fishing with my grandpa, the best part about Corpus Christi fishing is enjoying the fish my grandpa cooks. He really is a great cook. It does not matter how he prepares the fish, although I like his fried fish the best. It was something I would always look forward to.
If you are not interested in these Corpus Christi fishing spots, check out the other bays. You can fish right along the beautiful beaches of the Texas coast. Take a day trip to the Jetties and fish from the rocks. The Jetties line the entrance of the ship channel. The Jetties are great for floundering.
EARLY MORNING FISHING
Indian Point Pier.
There are several piers that might interest you. Bob Hall Pier in Padre Balli Park is a popular pier. This pier is located on the island. Indian Point Pier is just on the other side of the causeway, on the Portland side. I am not sure how the fishing is at either pier.
When I was a kid I went on one of these deep sea fishing charters with my cousin and his dad. We spent the whole day in the Gulf of Mexico. Be sure to grab your sea legs before you leave. Usually you will have the opportunity to real in Kingfish, Wahoo, Tuna, among other game fish on these trips.
My favorite fishing spots are South Bay and Brown and Root. These bays generally produce plenty of Redfish and Trout. Two fish I really love. Not to mention the pretty water and gorgeous sunrises. I have done quite a bit of fishing with my grandpa in these waters. He usually catches his limit.
Wherever you choose to go fishing, I hope your Corpus Christi fishing adventure brings the big catch and many memories to go along with it. My fishing adventures sure have.
